Chef Angus An

EXECUTIVE CHEF

Chef Angus An began his culinary training after completing a fine arts degree at UBC, enrolling in New York’s prestigious French Culinary Institute and graduating top of his class. After time at prestigious restaurants in New York, Montreal, and London, he returned to Vancouver in 2006 to open his first restaurant, Gastropod, to international critical acclaim. Now branded as Maenam, Chef An’s Michelin-recommended restaurant informed the creation of Mekong, including many of the same authentic Thai flavours.

With his fine arts background, Chef An sees food as a delicate balance of arts and science, where every dish should taste as good as it looks. His cuisine is built on technique, flavour, balance, tradition, innovation, and presentation.
